Acer launches new AMD-powered Swift laptops
Acer has launched its new Swift Edge 16 and Swift Go 14 laptops powered by AMD Ryzen 8040 Series processors.

Part of me wonders if launching a new laptop that actively promotes its artificial intelligence is helping us bring us closer to Judgment Day. But it hasn't stopped Acer, who today launched its new Swift Edge 16 and Swift Go 14 laptops.
These two devices are powered by AMD Ryzen 8040 Series processors, which are equipped with Ryzen AI technology built in to effectively distribute AI workloads across the NPU, GPU and CPU.
They can also support up to AMD Radeon 780M Graphics, and offer dedicated keys for the AcerSense app and Windows Copilot.
Both laptops support Acer's own video conferencing tools, PurifiedView and PurifiedVoice, as well as Microsoft Pluton technology, which helps secure devices, personal data, and encryption keys.
Acer Swift Edge 16
The Acer Swift Edge 16 is encased in a magnesium-aluminium alloy body that is less the 13mm tall and weighs just 1.23 kg.
It boasts a 16-inch 3.2K OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and a response time under 0.2ms. There are options to pack it with specs up to 32GB of RAM and 2 TB of PCIe 4.0 SSD storage.
Supporting the latest Wi-Fi 7 standard for network speeds up to 5.8Gbps and latencies under 2ms, the Swift Edge 16 is a powerhouse of ports. You get a HDMI 2.1 port, two USB Type-C ports (supporting USB4® with speeds of 40Gbps, DisplayPort, and USB charging), two USB Type-A ports, and a MicroSD Card slot.
Acer Swift Go 14
If portability is more your thing, the Swift Go 14 has you covered. Acer says that its combination of up to an AMD Ryzen 9 8945HS octa-core processor, AMD Radeon 780M graphics, and Ryzen AI combines to deliver a 60% improvement on AI performance over the previous generation.
Acer has thrown in a couple of screen options for the Swift Go 14: Up to a 2.8K OLED display and a 90 Hz refresh rate, or a touchscreen option with an IPS LCD (1920x1200) panel for anyone who prefer to tap and swipe.
A fully extendable 180-degree hinge makes turning the laptop into a tablet easy.
The Swift Go offers up to 32 GB LPDDR5X memory and up to 2 TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD, a 100W battery, 1440p QHD webcam and Wi-Fi 6E support.
On the connectivity front, you get dual USB Type-C ports that also support USB4, DisplayPort, and USB charging capabilities, an HDMI 2.1 port, Bluetooth 5.3, and a MicroSD card slot.
Pricing and availability
The Acer Swift Edge 16 (SFE16-44) will be available in Australia in Q2, starting at $2,199.99.
The Acer Swift Go 14 (SFG14-63) will be available in Australia in Q2, starting at $1,399.99.
