Budget smartphones are coming in thick and fast. Less than a week since Motorola launched its latest batch of budget devices local phone company Aspera has announced the Nitro 2 smartphone for $179.

From a specs perspective, the Nitro 2 looks solid on paper. You get a 6.6-inch HD+ display with 3 GB RAM and 64 GB storage. There's also a 5,000 mAh battery, integrated fingerprint scanner, NFC for contactless payments and it comes in two colour options: Pearl and Black.

On the camera side of things, there's a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera.

You also get dual 4G SIM card slots, and the phone comes running Android 13 Go Edition.

“With our new Nitro 2 we focused in particular on providing even better value for money features whilst significantly raising the features, look and feel. Nitro 2 costs just $179 which, for this kind of phone, is an amazing price for budget conscious consumers who want maximum functionality without the hefty price tag that comes with so many other brands.”
