DJI Pumps up the image quality with the Osmo Action 5 Pro

It's become something of an annual event, where GoPro announces a new action camera, shortly followed by DJI's response.
This year DJI is going Pro. It's updated its popular Osmo Action 4 camera to the new Osmo Action 5 Pro. The new model offers a large step up in image quality, thanks in large part to a new and improved 1/1.3-inch image sensor.
The sensor can shoot 4K/60fps video in low light thanks to the sensor, and its support for a high dynamic range of 13.5 stops, a number that rivals professional cameras.
There's also a dedicated Supernight mode that uses AI to reduce noise in low-light footage, so your videos always look great.
It's not just the image quality that's had a boost. DJI has increased the battery capacity to 1,950 mAh, which improves battery life by 50% over the Osmo Action 4. It claims you can film for up to 4 hours on a single charge, while 15 minutes on the DJI 30W fast charger will give you an extra 2 hours of shooting.
On the software front, the Osmo Action 5 Pro will automatically centre and track subjects, adjusting the composition of the shot as a subject moves without the need of a gimbal.
For underwater videographers, the Osmo Action 5 Pro can shoot at depths of 20 metres without a case, and can be set to record as soon as the camera is submerged. There's a built in pressure gauge to measure depth, duration and altitude data while filming.
The camera offers 47GB of on-board storage, fast transfer at 80MB/s via Wi-Fi 6 or USB 3.0, and pre-recording functionality as well.
And if you happen to have the DJI Mic 2, the camera can connect to Mic 2 transmitter via Bluetooth for high quality audio without a receiver.
