Dyson unveiled its latest product, the Supersonic r Professional hair dryer backstage at New York Fashion Week late last week.

The Supersonic r is a compact and lightweight hair dryer that aims to deliver fast drying and precision styling without heat damage.

It is 30% smaller and 20% lighter than its predecessor, the Dyson Supersonic. The new model is powered by Dyson’s Hyperdymium motor and features a streamlined heater and intelligent Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) sensors in each attachment.

These sensors communicate with the hair dryer, adjusting the motor and heater to provide optimal airflow and temperature.

Dyson engineers have focused on creating a hair dryer that is not only small but also powerful. The new hair dryer features a unique 'r' curve design, weighing in at just 325 grams. This ergonomic design allows professionals to reach areas that are typically hard to reach with ease and comfort. The Supersonic r™ also features Dyson's proprietary new heater technology, which delivers efficient and even heat.

Like other Dyson hair care products, the Supersonic r is equipped with intelligent heat control. A glass bead thermistor measures the air temperature over 20 times a second to prevent heat damage and protect natural shine.

The Supersonic r also features integrated RFID sensors in each attachment. These sensors communicate with the hair dryer, automatically adjusting the motor and heater to deliver optimal airflow and temperature. The attachments can also remember the last used settings, reducing the time required for adjustments.

The Supersonic r comes with three precise airflow settings and four heat modes. The controls are ergonomically placed within a thumb's reach, and LED indicators are located on the handle. The hair dryer also features a depth-loaded filter designed to capture pollutants such as hair sprays and airborne styling products.
