When I think of solar panels in hats, I think of a baseball cap with a fan in the brim and a couple of small PVs hot glued to the top.

The EcoFlow Power Hat is not that at all. This wide-brimmed hat has solar panels incorporated into the brim all the way around, so it can capture energy from all angles.

Weighing in at just 370 grams, the hat is lightweight and flexible enough to be taken anywhere. It's rated at IP65 and features both USB-C and USB-A outputs, so you can use it to charge two devices simultaneously.

The hat is rated for 12W of power (+/-1W) and has a maximum 5V, 2.4A output. The PV cells are Perc Monocrystalline Silicon, with a 23-24% efficiency.

I'm not sure what that means in terms of the time it takes to charge a phone, but it's definitely going to be better than not charging it at all.

The hat itself comes in two sizes: Medium is designed for head circumferences up to 58cm, and Large is for heads up to 61cm. There's an adjustable hook and loop to help get the right fit as well.

Pricing and availability

The EcoFlow Power Hat launches today alongside the Delta Pro 3 portable power station. It has an RRP of $179, though it will be available for an early-bird rate of $139 until the end of October.
