Ecovacs will launch the Goat G1 robot lawnmower in Australia on 21 September for an RRP of $2,999, the company has announced.

Alongside news that the Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni is arriving in Australia this month, the robotics brand has also confirmed that the GOAT G1 robotic lawnmower is set to launch in Australia on September 21.
While robot lawnmowers aren't exactly new, they have all historically required you to lay a boundary wire around your yard to work. The Goat G1 uses all the smart mapping and sensors it has used in its robotic vacuums to do away with the need of boundary wire.
Instead, it uses a number of ultra-wideband beacons around the yard to help the lawnmower set your home's boundaries in the app.
Ecovacs says the process of setting up the beacons takes about 20 minutes. Considering the last time I reviewed a robot lawnmower I spent hours hammering a wire into the ground around my backyard, this concept of a 20 minute setup is hugely appealing.
Mapping and obstacles
The Goat G1 uses a combo of sensors to map out its path to keep your lawns looking fantastic.
Naturally, it uses precise GPS technology, which is common in robot lawnmowers. But it also adds in the ultra-wideband network from its beacons, plus an industrial-grade gyroscope to ensure navigation stability, and dual cameras to map the environment in real time.
Combining those sensors with Ecovacs' AIVI 3D technology for obstacle avoidance, and you have a robot that is capable of cutting grass to the edge of your lawn, while intelligently avoiding toys and pets left lying around.
Extra Security
The Goat G1 may be designed to cut grass, but it can also act as a virtual security guard.
It can be sent to up to 10 guarding spots around your yard which can be added manually on the app.
It then uses the panoramic camera to provide a 360-degree view, and can dynamically detect humans.
The lawnmower then automatically capture and mark the location of the human figure on the map and send it to the user's mobile app.
Pricing and availability
Launching on September 21, you'll be able to pick up the Goat G1 from leading retailers, including Amazon, ECOVACS Online, JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, Bing Lee, Robot Specialist, Bunnings, Robot Lawn Mowers Australia.
It will retail for $2,999, which is definitely on the pricey side for a lawnmower. But for a lawnmower you never have to push or clean up after? That's a bargain.
