The HERO 11 Black camera is one of my favourite products from the past year. It impressed on so many levels that it made the BTTR Hall of Fame.
So I'm extremely excited to see what the GoPro HERO 12 Black camera is capable of. The newest version of GoPro's iconic action camera is set to arrive on September 13 for an RRP of $649.95.
The announcement mentions a long list of improvements over the previous model. Among them:
- Improved battery that offers as much as 2x longer runtimes.
- A Max Lens Mod 2.0 accessory that enables 177 degree field of view at 4K60 resolution
- Support for Bluetooth audio devices like your AirPods. This will allow things like simpler vlogging, scene narration and voice commands from a distance
- improved Hypersmooth 6.0 video stabilisation
It will also continue to offer things like 360ยบ horizon lock and the versatile 8:7 aspect ratio that lets you film once and export in different formats.
Software boost
While the camera itself is the most exciting element, there are also improvements to the GoPro subscription offering.
The biggest of which is the launch of a desktop version of GoPro's Quik video editing program, which will be available exclusively to GoPro subscribers for free.
It will allow more detailed editing functions that take advantage of your computer's larger screen and processing power.
Your videos will also sync seamlessly between desktop and mobile apps, making it easier to create the perfect video from your camera.
The software is set to arrive on November 1 for Mac and later for Windows users.
