Hell yeah! Sonos Ace can now TV swap with the Beam and Ray soundbars
Originally limited to just the flagship Arc soundbar, one of the Ace's best features is now even better.
When I first tested the Sonos Ace headphones, the kind team at Sonos sent me a Sonos Arc alongside them so I could check out the TV swap functionality.
I have a first-gen Beam, you see, and the team at Sonos knew that I wouldn't be able to experience the full spectrum of the Ace's offerings. But the company said from the get go that the Swap function would be coming to both the Sonos Ray and the first and second gen Beam soundbars at a later date.
That date is today.
You need to update both the Sonos app and the Sonos Ace headphones to be able to enjoy the TV Swap functionality, a process that took me about 10 minutes to complete.
After that, you can set it up in the Sonos App with your older, cheaper Sonos soundbar. and enjoy immersive surround sound in your headphones.
It works like a charm. Setting up the connection took seconds, and the swap from soundbar audio to headphones audio took moments with a long press of the content key.
Bonus: TV Swap for Android users
There are a few more bonuses in this software update as well. While the original TV Swap function was exclusive to iOS users, Android customers were originally left out in the cold. That's been rectified now.
There are a bunch of other improvements as well, like improvements to group volume controls. You can see the full release notes for the software update over at Sonos' support page.
