Pew pew! Hisense is betting big on lasers with its 2025 home cinema products
With new C2 and C2 Ultra 4K laser mini projectors and the L9Q Laser TV, Hisense is shooting for glory with its 2025 home entertainment lineup.
While Samsung focused heavily on AI for its home entertainment announcements at CES, Hisense has instead turned to lasers.
Hisense announced three new products as part of its Laser home cinema range, including two mini projectors and a short throw "Laser TV".
If we start with the mini projectors, there are two models to consider: The C2 and the C2 Ultra. Both projectors use Hisense's TriChroma colour technology to produce Dolby Vision and IMAX Enhanced-certified images, and are powered by Hisense’s proprietary LPU Digital Laser Engine.
The unique design sees the projectors mounted on a gimbal and offering 360º horizontal and 135º vertical rotation, so you can watch the big screen pretty much anywhere, on screen sizes up to 300 inches on the diagonal.
Hisense does use AI in the projectors, alongside DTS:X, to help curate a personalised experience that adapts to the surroundings.
Both the C2 and the C2 Ultra offer 4K resolution, with the Ultra offering a 3,000 ANSI lumens brightness level compared to the C2's 2,000. The C2 Ultra also offers an integrated subwoofer, is optimised for plug and play Xbox support, and has an optical zoom capability to enjoy the display from anywhere in the room.
The L9Q Laser TV is actually a short throw projector
The other Laser product announced by Hisense is the L9Q Laser TV. Despite its name, it's actually more of a short throw projector, though it will come with a 120-inch ambient-light rejecting screen.
Also powered by the LPU digital laser engine, the L9Q delivers 4,000 ANSI lumens of brightness, making it the brightest laser product Hisense has ever released.
The L9Q also offers a 0.18 ultra-short throw lens, which allows the projector to sit 44mm closer to the screen compared to a conventional 0.2 throw ratio model.
It comes with Harman Kardon front-firing speakers, and also offers the "Designed for Xbox" certification for seamless gaming experience.
"Hisense leads the laser technology category with over 2,500 applied patents that underpin our innovations in the field. The Australian market has shown a strong appetite for bigger-screen entertainment, and we’re thrilled to bring more premium entertainment solutions to Australian customers.”
“Our Laser Home Cinema offering is designed to deliver unmatched clarity, colour and brightness across the range, giving Aussies the ability to experience cinema from their own homes in a way that suits them.”
