The good news for Apple customers is that it's easy to switch off Apple Intelligence. Here's how to do it.

It took months for Apple to finally launch Apple Intelligence in Australia. You probably signed up to see what all the fuss is about, but may have been left slightly underwhelmed by the disappointing generic image creation or the marketing efforts targeting idiots.

The good news is that it's really easy to switch off Apple Intelligence. Here's what you need to do:

On an iPhone:

1: Open settings

Grab your iPhone and navigate to Settings. In the third block of options on the main page there is one marked "Apple Intelligence & Siri". Open it.

2: Turn off Apple Intelligence

There's a big green toggle at the top of this page. Swipe it off and your phone will prompt you with a pop up to confirm your decision.

It will warn you that features like Writing Tools will no longer be available, and Siri will stop using the additional capabilities provided by Apple Intelligence.

If you still want to turn it off, then hit the big, red "Turn off Apple Intelligence" button.

On a Mac:

2: Switch off Apple Intelligence

At the top of the settings pane, there is a toggle for Apple Intelligence.

Switch it off, and you will be prompted with a pop up window asking you to confirm your decision.

All you need to do is choose the "Turn off Apple Intelligence" button in this step, and you will no longer have Apple Intelligence running on your Mac.

Change your mind

If you switch Apple Intelligence off and later change your mind, whether to generate custom emoji or try out Apple's Visual Intelligence feature, then you can simply head to the "Apple Intelligence & Siri" menu in settings on your iPhone or Mac and turn the toggle back on.
