LG has outlined its 2025 OLED evo TVs, and they are full of AI

The 2025 lineup of LG TVs will offer a big improvement to brightness, plus a range of AI features to improve picture, sound and personalisation.

At CES this week, LG officially announced its 2025 TV lineups, including updates to the superb G series OLED evo and the wireless M series.

The new LG OLED evo G5 and OLED evo M5 models have a range of hardware improvements on board, but the big selling point for LG this year is the increase in AI visual and audio processing.

On the hardware front, one of the biggest upgrades to the range is the addition of the new Brightness Booster Ultimate tech, which uses a combination of hardware design and light-boosting algorithms to boost brightness by three times higher than LG’s 2025 B-series OLED models.

Given OLED models typically struggle with brightness, this is a big step forward that will be interesting to test in the real world.

The new OLED evo models are powered by the advanced AI Processor Gen2. This advanced processor analyses lower resolution images and upscales them to higher definition, while delivering precise HDR10 content across its 4K resolution.

For gamers, the 2025 OLED evo models offer a 4K 165Hz variable refresh rate, which has been certified by both NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium.

Meanwhile, film-lovers can appreciate the ambient light compensation in Filmmaker mode, which will adjust the picture depending on the room’s lighting, without sacrificing the filmmaker’s vision for image quality.

LG has also brought its AI skills to the TV’s audio. According to the spec sheet, the AI Sound Pro technology can deliver virtual 11.1.2 surround sound, which can also be adapted to individual preferences.

That said, you should still get a soundbar. No slimline TV is ever going to be able to create sound that competes with a dedicated home theatre speaker.

Bye-bye Magic Remote. Hello AI Remote

Continuing the ongoing trend to put AI in the name of absolutely everything, LG has also changed up the name of its “Magic Remote”. Now dubbed the “AI Remote” (why?), the OLED evo TVs will welcome users by name and provide recommendations based on personal preference and viewing habits.

The TV will recognise individual voices throughout the home and automatically switch profiles to deliver the most accurate recommendations.

To support this, the TVs will offer AI Search, as well as accessing Microsoft’s CoPilot for a deeper level of personalisation.

Like previous generations, the TVs will run on LG’s WebOS platform, which has been updated to easily connect with a range of ecosystems, including Google Home and LG’s ThinQ.

LG typically launches its annual TV refresh around March, so stay tuned for more details about the 2025 OLED evo range then.
