LG's latest projector transforms into a lamp

There's more than meets the eye, here, that's for sure.

LG's latest projector transforms into a lamp

In last week's newsletter I hoped that we would see less useless AI in 2025 and more intelligent design. LG knows what I'm talking about, with its latest lifestyle projector doubling as a stylish lamp when it's not beaming HD entertainment on your wall.

The PF600U (who names these things?) works as a stylish mood lamp in your home, able to create ambience with nine different colours at five different brightness levels.

Stereo speakers offer Bluetooth functionality in this mode as well.

But come movie night, the PF600U gets interesting. The head tilts up to 110 degrees, giving you a Full HD projector with 3000 ANSI lumens of brightness. The projector runs on WebOS, so it's easy to control and navigate across your favourite streaming services.

It will give you a screen size of anywhere between 30 to 120 inches, and has both HDMI and USB-C inputs, as well as support for Android and iOS wireless control, though details on that functionality is a bit limited right now.

A better CineBeam

Alongside the PF600U, LG has also announced the CineBeam S (which also goes by the moniker PU615U). This is an ultra short-throw model that can create a 40-100 inch screen size just inches from the wall.

You'll get a 4K image with this one, with a brighter picture of up to 500 ANSI lumens. It uses an RGB Laser light source, producing a 450,000:1 contrast ratio.

It also offers Stereo sound with Dolby Atmos, and runs WebOS for easy access to your favourite streaming platform.

“With the PF600U’s 3-in-1 versatility and the CineBeam S’s compact, ultra-short throw design, LG is setting a new standard for lifestyle projectors that cater to diverse spaces and user demands. LG is dedicated to delivering versatile projectors that adapt to different moods and lifestyles while seamlessly integrating into various environments, elevating the everyday experiences of modern users.”

Pricing and availability

There's no indication of Australian pricing or availability yet. LG typically shows off Australian products in March, so expect to get a clearer insight into when (or if) we'll see these in Australia this year.
