There's a revolution happening at the moment in smartphone land, and that revolution is that cheap phones are actually getting to be remarkably good.

Motorola is helping drive this revolution further today with the launch of three new budget Moto G models: the G34 5G, the G24 and the G04.

All three models are priced under $300, bringing features like NFC and fingerprint readers to the cheapest models.

Let's break down the three different phones:

Motorola Moto G04

At just $179, the G04 comes in three different colours, Concord Black, Satin Blue and Sunrise Orange. It boasts a 6.6-inch HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate, which can adjust automatically in order to save battery life.

There's a 5,000 mAh battery inside, as well as NFC capability and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. An octa-core processor keeps things running, and RAM boost will add up to 4GB of virtual RAM from unused storage.

On the camera front, you get a 16MP sensor and support for HDR photos and portrait modes. There's also support for Dolby Atmos through both the phone's speakers and paired headphones.

Motorola Moto G24

Stepping things up a notch, the $229 G24 comes in Matte Charcoal, Ice Green, and Pink Lavender colour options.

It has a lot of the same features as the G04, from a 6.6-inch HD+ display with 90Hz refresh rate, 4GB virtual RAM boost and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

It also adds in 15W fast charging, and an improved camera array, offering a 50 MP sensor with quad pixel technology, plus a dedicated Macro vision camera.

Also available for $229, the G34 adds the same vegan leather finish found in the likes of the Moto G84, though only with the Ocean Green version of the phone. It also comes in Charcoal Black without the vegan leather.

With a smaller 6.5-inch HD+ display boasting a 120 Hz refresh rate and an 85% screen to body ratio, the G34 looks more like a premium phone than its price implies.

With 5G connectivity, a Snapdragon 695 processor and 18W fast charging, the G34 will launch with Android 14, and get one OS update and 3 years of bi-monthly security updates.

On the camera front, you get a 50MP Quad pixel sensor, as well as a dedicated macro vision camera.
