Maybe it's just because I'm getting older, but I am finding it harder and harder to find well-fitting in-ear earbuds. So the over-ear design of the new Soundcore AeroFit and AeroFit Pro definitely pique my interest.
Over-ear earbuds aren't new, with some of the best wireless earbuds being over-ear design., but Anker is hoping its combination of comfortable, lightweight design, secure fit and water resistance entices active users to try out its latest earbuds.
Let's take a closer look at what's on offer.
Soundcore AeroFit
The cheaper of the two new models, the Anker Soundcore AeroFit, is a compact, lightweight earpiece designed to wrap around your ears and deliver sound into your ear without blocking external ambient noise.
This makes it a solid choice for active people like cyclists or runners who need to be aware of their surroundings.
Each earbud weighs 8.5 grams, while featuring an 85 mAh battery to deliver up to 11 hours worth of battery life. With the extra charge in the case, you'll get up to 42 hours of playback.
The case also supports fast charging, with 10 minutes plugged in offering up to four hours of playback.
There are touch-sensitive controls, which helps the AeroFit deliver an IPX7 water resistance rating.
Sound is powered by a custom 14mm titanium coated dynamic driver, and the earbuds are available in black, white, pink and blue colours.
AeroFit Pro
As you might expect from the "Pro" bit at the end of the name, the AeroFit Pro is a more premium option.
It features the same wraparound the ear design, and is slightly larger and heavier, weighing in at 12.23 grams for each earbud. For additional security, you also get a detachable and adjustable neck band to ensure a snug, secure fit.
There are a few other significant changes over the base earbuds too. For a start, you get physical buttons rather than touch controls, which means the water resistance rating is only IPX5 here.
But a larger 16.2mm custom dynamic driver with a titanium coated dome means you get deeper bass, while LDAC codec support allows for richer detail as well.
The AeroFit Pro also supports spatial audio, keeping you at the centre of the music.
