When I play PS5 (I'm currently replaying the Mass Effect trilogy, and it's fantastic), I typically us an old pair of wired earbuds plugged into the DualSense controller.
While that works, it's definitely not the way games are meant to be heard, so I'm very interested in the arrival of the PlayStation Pulse Elite wireless headset, which has just launched in Australia.
Announced back in November 2023, the Pulse Elite headset uses the new PlayStation Link lossless wireless technology to deliver every detail in deep, 3D audio.
The Pulse Elite uses planar magnetic drivers, which reproduce sound with near perfect accuracy along the entire audible spectrum. This means you can hear games exactly how the developers intended.
The headset comes with an included PlayStation Link USB adapter which you need for the full PS5 experience, though the headset does also support Bluetooth to pair with your phone.
The Pulse Elite's built-in microphone can be extended with a simple pull of the tip with easy muting a button press away. You'll always know when the headset is muted as well, as an orange indicator lights up in your peripheral vision.
The headset also comes with a charging hanger, so you can charge and store your headphones at the same time.
Pricing and availability
The PlayStation Pulse Elite wireless headset is priced at $239.95 RRP.
A PlayStation Link USB Adapter is included with Pulse Elite, but is also available as a standalone purchase for $34.95 RRP.
