Could this be the holy grail for pet owners?

Roborock's new Qrevo robot vacuums promise 100% hair removal

One of the themes in robot vacuums this year has been anti-tangle technology, which reduces the likelihood of hair tangling on the main brush.

Ecovacs announced it at its big launch earlier this year for the N20 Pro Plus, T30S Combo and Omni X5, and Samsung was pitching it for the Jet Bot AI.

But so far, I haven't tested a unit that really nailed hair tangling on the main brush. These models may have been better than previous generations, but there was still plenty of hair wrapped around the brush in my testing.

Roborock is promising to solve that with its latest Qrevo models, the Qrevo Edge and Qrevo Curv. The company is pitching a Dual Anti-Tangle System, with a "DuoDivide" main brush and FlexiArm Arc side brush which work to keep the brushes free from tangles.

I'm keen to test that claim. Hair tangling is a big issue for robot vacuums, with some models I tested having their main brush absolutely destroyed by nothing more than a bit of hair.

Aside from the anti-tangling tech, these new Qrevo models also offer 18,500 Pa of suction and reactive AI obstacle recognition that uses structured light, RGB cameras and LiDar tech to recognise and avoid up to 62 different object types.

The vacuums also offer an adaptive chassis for cleaning different heights using its three wheel control, and is capable of overcoming steps of up to 4cm to ensure your whole home gets a clean.

The dock washes the mop pads with 75 degree hot water and dries them with warm air, while also auto emptying the dustbin and filling the mop tank of your vacuum.

From what I can tell, the only real difference between the two models is the shape of the base station, giving you a choice of a more traditional design or a more interesting curved design.

Pricing and availability

The Qrevo Edge and Qrevo Curv are both available to purchase from Roborock's online store, JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, The Good Guys and Bing Lee from today, with additional retailers launching January 1, 2025.

Both models have an RRP of $2,799.
