CES highlighted the innovation in robot vacuums: Here's what's coming to clean your home
Robot vacuums were a prominent part of CES 2025, showcasing a range of different innovations and improvements. But which one is going to have the biggest impact on Australian homes?
I didn't even make it to Vegas for CES this year, but even from my desk in Sydney, the innovation happening in robot vacuum cleaners excited me.
Sure, there were iterative improvements like you would expect from any category with an annual product release cycle. But there was also real innovation. Experimental ideas that are looking to solve some of the challenges today's robot vacuums seemingly cannot overcome.
While mobile phones, televisions and computers are all trying to use software to offer improvements, there are physical, engineering breakthroughs in robot vacuums that make it a really exciting product category.
While we're still a few months away from testing the products properly to see if they will actually make automatic home cleaning an even easier experience, I wanted to dive into what I thought were some of the more interesting ideas on display.
