Samsung's new Galaxy Watch 6 launches with a bigger screen and better battery

Alongside the new Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 smartphones launched at Unpacked, Samsung also chose to launch the latest versions of its smartwatch: The Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic.

The display on the Watch 6 is 20% larger than the Galaxy Watch 5. That makes it easier to see, with larger text and an improved on-screen keyboard.

Samsung has also carved back the bezel, making it 30% slimmer on the Watch 6. The rotating bezel on the Watch 6 Classic is 15% thinner as well.

Perhaps most importantly though, the Galaxy Watch 6 has a much larger battery. Samsung claims that it's enough to add an extra eight hours of use, which conveniently should be enough to let you track your sleep without needing a recharge.

Feature improvements

There's a big focus on personalised health improvements across the new smartwatches. On the sleep front, the new models now track total sleep time, sleep cycle, awake time, plus physical and mental recovery.

This helps give a greater personalised coaching and training on improving sleep patterns.

On the fitness tracking, the watches will offer body composition tracking, letting users track physical measurements like skeletal muscle, basal metabolic rate, body water and body fat percentage.

Software will analyse your personal fitness levels to create a personalised heart rate zone to make sure you get the most from your workouts.

Pricing and availability

The new Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic will launch on August 18 and are available to pre-order now.
