Samsung's Galaxy S25 Edge is just 5.8mm thin, costs $1,849
Premium performance in a thinner body and loaded to the brim with AI, The Galaxy S25 Edge is impressively engineered.

Samsung has officially detailed its Galaxy S25 Edge smartphone, and I have mixed thoughts on this device.
On the one hand, the fact that you get flagship performance from a phone that is just 5.8 mm thick is impressive.
Samsung has managed to pack the Edge with top tier specs, from the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset to the 6.7-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display.
It also has a 200MP main camera and a 12MP ultra wide camera, along with Samsung's Pro Visual Engine, so you get similar image quality to the rest of the Galaxy S25 lineup.
And the whole thing weighs just 163 grams. Samsung pointed out that's lighter than a bag of chips.
The thinner design means the battery capacity maybe isn't as high as you've seen elsewhere at just 3,900 mAh, but Samsung claims it's still enough to get you through the day.
It does support fast charging, though you'll need to buy the 25W fast charging cable separately. It also supports wireless charging, though not the magnetic Qi2 standard.
But as much as the specs on this all showcase how good Samsung has gotten at creating smartphone devices, I still feel that this is maybe one device too many in the S25 series.

Launching just three months after the rest of the S25 family, the S25 Edge is priced between the S25 Plus and the S25 Ultra.
But it feels more like a replacement to the S25 Plus. With the same screen size, resolution, and storage options, the Edge seems like it's targeting those who wound up buying the S25 Plus. But by launching three months later, it comes almost as an afterthought, despite being a stronger device on paper.
It will be very interesting to see the take up of Samsung's thinner phone. It definitely promises something different in a market of devices that have been iterating for quite a few years now.
