The Sonos Arc Ultra promises bigger sound from a smaller soundbar

I've been hanging out for this announcement since I got to test the original Sonos Arc while reviewing the Sonos Ace headphones. Sonos has announced the impending arrival of its new Arc Ultra soundbar, alongside the updated Sub 4 subwoofer.
Information on the new soundbar has been leaking like crazy for months, so it's great to see the actual announcement happen.
The new Sonos Arc Ultra promises to deliver clearer dialogue, deeper bass and more detail. It does this through a technology it calls Sound Motion, which allows for significantly smaller transducers while delivering much deeper bass.
The soundbar features 14 drivers inside, which is three more than the original Arc model. That helps the Arc Ultra deliver a larger 9.1.4 sound configuration (compared to 5.1.2 for the Arc), despite being about 18% smaller by volume than the original model.
The Arc Ultra supports a range of connectivity options, including Wi-Fi 6, HDMI eARC, Bluetooth 5.3 and AirPlay 2. There's a dedicated button to make Bluetooth pairing easy, and the soundbar supports both Sonos voice controls and Amazon Alexa.
Sonos has also added TruPlay tuning to the Android app, so you can easily create the perfect soundscape for your room.
Sub 4: Bigger bass
It's not just the Arc Ultra, either. Sonos has also launched the Sub 4, an update to its subwoofer lineup.
With inward-facing woofers in the same iconic design, the updated Sub 4 has boosted processing power and memory and updated Wi-Fi radios for improved connectivity.
It consumes almost 50% less power when idle, and can be paired with previous generations of the Sub and a Sonos soundbar to really help you feel the bass while watching your favourite movies or TV shows.

Both the Sonos Arc Ultra and the Sub 4 are available for pre-order now, shipping on 29 October 2024.
Both are available in black or white colour options.
