Swann expands its MaxRanger home security lineup

Swann is building on the success of its original MaxRanger home security camera with four new models, including a Mini and Pro version.

The MaxRanger4K solar on a wall

My dream is to live on a property large enough to need a home security camera system with long-range connectivity like the Swann MaxRanger. Now that Swann has announced the 2025 expansion to the MaxRanger range, maybe it's time?

Ha! Like I could afford it.

Still, I like the look of Swann's new lineup. There are four new models announced at CES this week, all delivering 4K video quality and ranges of up to 300 metres in open air. They manage this by creating a dedicated wireless network on the 900Mhz spectrum, rather than the 2.4 or 5GHz frequencies of traditional Wi-Fi.

Last year's model is updated as the MaxRanger4K Solar, which offers range of up to 600 metres in open air, and comes with a hub, plus solar panels built into each camera for limitless home security.

There's a new MaxRanger4K Mini, which offers a more affordable entry point. It's range is about half of the Solar model at 300 metres, and each camera has enough battery to get you through a few months before you need to recharge.

The MaxRanger4K Pro is the opposite end of the spectrum, adding a premium range of as much as a kilometre away from the hub. This makes it perfect for larger properties and commercial establishments with larger footprints.

The MaxRanger4K Video Doorbell

The final addition to the range is the MaxRanger4K Video Doorbell, which allows you to pop a doorbell up to 300 metres away from your home, perfect for larger grounds with a front gate. It also supports the AI SwannShield voice assistant, so you'll never have to answer the (gate) door again.

“After the unprecedented success of our long range MaxRanger4K camera and AI SwannShield technology, Swann has embraced the mandate of our consumers and is providing a wider range of products that are in line with our long history of trusted security and are ground-breaking in their use of future tech.”

“Our focus is on creating innovative products that fulfill the ever-changing lifestyle needs of our diverse consumers- from the most reliable Wi-Fi for urban living, to the longest range for more expansive properties and rural areas, to the ability for technology to handle daily interactions through AI. Our commitment is to be at the forefront of the newest security technology that protects and elevates your home.”

Xtreem4K gets SwannShield AI Defender

The other announcement Swann made at CES this week was the addition of its SwannShield AI to its Xtreem4K wireless camera.

The Xtreem4K can detect heat, motion, people and vehicles using AI technology to trigger sirens, spotlights, mobile alerts and automatic video recording.

With SwannShield, the camera promises to talk to visitors, delivery people and intruders automatically.

Pricing and availability

There's no word yet on when we'll see these new products hit Aussie shelves, but expect it to be this year.
