As a card-carrying member of the middle class, my home is small enough that I can blanket every inch of my property in sweet Wi-Fi goodness with a simple mesh system.
But for those who live on larger properties without the same level of Wi-Fi coverage, Swann's latest security camera looks like an impressive solution. The MaxRanger4K Solar security camera promises a range of up to 600 metres, which is about 20 times the range of most Wi-Fi cameras.
The MaxRanger4K does this through a combination of 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and 900MHz long range technology.
This makes it ideal for remote locations like farms and perimeter fences on larger blocks for consumers, as well as business applications like warehouses, carparks and other spaces where Wi-Fi is hard to find.
“The MaxRanger4K showcases the innovation and trust that Swann Security is known for. Its expansive signal range puts it in a class all its own, allowing for detection of threats at the early stages. The dedicated 900MHz Wi-Fi means that even in short distances or crowded areas, the signal is stronger and the cameras won’t struggle to maintain a reliable Wi-Fi connection. This is the security system of the future and Swann is proud to be the first to offer these capabilities to our customers now.”
- Alex Talevski, CEO of Swann Security.
No sacrifice in security smarts
The camera comes pre-paired with the base hub, so setup is quick and painless, while the integrates solar panels means you won't have to charge the camera.
The cameras use Sony STARVIS sensors for 4K colour video recording during both day and the night, and comes with 64 GB of on-board storage and cloud backup.
Through the Swann security app, you can take advantage of 2-way audio, and set notifications, mobile alerts, spotlights and sirens when the camera detects heat, motion, people or cars.
You can also use the app to control other Swann devices like the Swann 4K wireless video doorbell camera.
