The espresso 15 Pro could well be the perfect portable monitor

4K resolution, 550 nits of brightness and the new Stand+ makes it an ideal option for professional work on the go.

The Espresso 15 Pro next to and connected to a Macbook Pro

Back in 2023, Aussie company espresso took its portable display business up a notch with the 17 Pro, a larger monitor with an impressive 4K resolution, 1 billion colours and 450 nits of brightness, all powered by a single USB-C cable.

But 17 inches is a lot, particularly as a second screen to a laptop. So the announcement at CES today that espresso is launching a 15-inch Pro model is fantastic news, particularly as it only announced the Display 15 a couple of months ago.

The new 15 Pro can deliver an even brighter image, up to 550 nits, form a single USB-C cable (so long as the source device has enough power to give, of course). It will deliver 4K resolution, and more than 1 billion colours, and touchscreen control for both Windows and Mac devices.

I'm still working on finalising my Display 15 review, but I can tell you the real hero of that product is the Stand+, which lets you stand the espresso monitor above your laptop's screen for an ergonomic dual-screen setup. The new 15 Pro ships with the Stand+ as well, giving it that same versatility.

“espresso 15 Pro is designed for business travellers, professionals on the go, and people seeking a high-performance tool to help them achieve their best wherever they need to work.

“Building on the success of espresso 17 Pro, 15 Pro provides a more compact, energy-efficient, and brighter option while providing exceptional picture quality, performance and viewing comfort when used with the ergonomic Stand+.

“Like all espresso Displays products, espresso 15 Pro is built to give people the best in terms of premium design with glass and aluminium, single cable connection to almost any device, and the freedom to produce quality work wherever the road takes you.”

Pricing and availability

We don't have a precise launch window just yet, with espresso confirming arrival in the "coming few months". There's also no price, but given the 17 Pro currently sells for $1,250, and the 15 Touch sits at $749 RRP, my money would be on a $999 price tag.

I'm sure we won't have too long to wait for official pricing, in any case.
